2024 Aubert - Chardonnay Napa Sugar Shack Estate (750ml)

Sugar Shack Chardonnay reflects Aubert’s site-driven approach: Napa fruit that retains the tension and lift more commonly found in Sonoma Coast. This seven-acre estate vineyard sits in the northwest corner of Rutherford, planted to Chardonnay in 2009 by noted vineyard developer David Abreu. The clone chosen for the site is specifically selected to preserve high natural acidity in Rutherford’s warmer climate, giving the fruit a brighter backbone than most Napa Chardonnay.

Vinification and aging follow the Aubert tradition: the wine ferments in barrel with native yeast and ages without lees stirring, allowing the vineyard’s character to carry through without disturbance.

Tasting profile

  • Aroma opens with orange oil, ripe peach, and an exotic tropical edge
  • On the palate, it presents a lavish, full mouthfeel with nuances of sweet alyssum and sarsaparilla
  • A lively finish delivers bright citrus notes and a cool river rock minerality that keep the richness in check over a long, balanced finish

Food pairings

Best enjoyed with grilled swordfish, a lobster roll, or lemongrass-spiced Thai dishes.

94-96 Points
"The 2024 Chardonnay Sugar Shack offers tons of immediacy right out of the gate. Orange confit, roasted apple, pastry notes, tropical overtones and a kiss of French oak are dialed up nicely. I imagine this will be one of the Chardonnays that drinks well..."
