Brolio is the everyday Chianti Classico from Barone Ricasoli, the Castello di Brolio estate in Gaiole in Chianti. The estate dates to 1141 and is often called Italy’s oldest winery. The 2024 is Sangiovese-led, with a little Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and fermented in stainless steel to keep the fruit bright. It then gets a short rest in oak before release. The nose is fresh and floral, with violet, black cherry and a hint of sweet mint. The palate is juicy and lively, with fine tannins and a finish of ripe red fruit and spice. It’s an easy, food-friendly red for pasta with meat sauce, cold cuts, grilled meats and aged cheeses.

90 Points
"Bright cherry and raspberry flavors highlight this elegant, juicy red. Balanced, with floral and spice accents, plus a mouthwatering edge and lingering finish. Sangiovese and Colorino. Drink now through 2032. 41,600 cases made, 8,000 cases imported."
