Les Chaumées is a rare Premier Cru bottling from Bruno Colin, drawn from a small parcel of roughly four tenths of a hectare in the northwest corner of Chassagne-Montrachet, close to the border with Saint-Aubin. The rocky, limestone-rich soils here drain well, and the site's altitude and exposure give it a cooler microclimate than the lower parts of the commune, a combination that lends real precision to the finished wine. Bruno Colin has cultivated Chassagne-Montrachet's finest terroirs since founding his own domaine in 2003, following the division of his family's historic estate, and Les Chaumées has become one of the range's most sought-after crus.

Made entirely from Chardonnay and farmed organically, the wine spends about twelve months in French oak, with a modest portion new, followed by several months in tank before bottling to round out its balance. In the glass, expect a wine built around crystalline vivacity paired with a controlled sense of richness, showing floral undertones, hazelnut, and sesame-like nuances alongside a linear, textured palate. The structure suggests real aging potential, with the wine only growing more complex over time.

Serve chilled in a proper white Burgundy glass, and this pairs beautifully with roast poultry, shellfish, or aged cheese.

91 Points
"A discreet but not imperceptible dollop of wood easily allows the aromas of citrus, spice, rosemary oil and the essence of pear to shine. The richer and bigger-bodied flavors remain sleek while displaying both good detail and length on the balanced, dry and youthfully austere finale. This is quite good though note well that at least some patience will be necessary."
