2024 Calabretta, Massimiliano - Etna Rosso DOC Gaio Gaio (750ml)

Etna red with a lot of charm and a very fair price. Gaio Gaio comes from Massimiliano Calabretta, whose family has farmed the north slope of Mount Etna in Randazzo since the early 1900s. It’s made from Nerello Mascalese, grown organically in black volcanic soil at high elevation and aged in large Slavonian oak barrels. Medium-bodied and lively, it offers ripe strawberry, sour red cherry, fresh herbs and earthy, mineral spice, with lifted acidity and a long, clean, savory finish. Serve it with a slight chill alongside pizza, charcuterie, grilled sausages or roasted vegetables.
