Vigne Surrau, known commercially as Cantina Surrau, was established by the Demuro family in the early 2000s in Arzachena, just minutes from the Costa Smeralda in northeastern Sardinia. The estate sits at the heart of Gallura, home to Sardinia's only DOCG, and Vermentino accounts for roughly seventy percent of its production. The winery itself, built from glass and local stone, reflects the family's philosophy of blending modern design with respect for the surrounding granite landscape.

Sciala is Surrau's flagship Vermentino bottling, sourced from estate vineyards planted in sandy, granite-derived soils around Arzachena. The vines benefit from a sunny, Mediterranean climate tempered by the dry, near-constant mistral wind that sweeps through the valley, helping preserve freshness in the grapes. After a gentle pressing, the wine spends time resting on its lees, a step that builds roundness and texture without relying on oak.

The 2024 shows a bright straw yellow color with greenish highlights, opening to aromas of lemon, grapefruit, and tropical fruit intertwined with Mediterranean herbs. The palate is crisp and medium-bodied, carried by lively acidity through to a long, savory finish. It pairs well with white fish, light pasta dishes, or fresh, mild cheeses.
