The 2024 Coquard Loison Fleurot Morey Saint-Denis is a 100% Pinot Noir village wine from Domaine Coquard Loison Fleurot, a small family estate based in Flagey-Échezeaux on the Côte de Nuits. Though a relative newcomer to international markets, the domaine has built a strong reputation since shifting to estate bottling in the late 2000s, drawing on nine hectares of vines across twelve appellations, including six grand crus. All fruit is estate grown, with much of it coming from vines planted in the 1950s and farmed largely along organic lines. The grapes are hand harvested and the wine is aged in oak barrels for about a year and a half.

This Morey Saint-Denis shows an earthy, spicy character layered with notes of kirsch and red and dark berry liqueur. The palate is round and caressing, with good depth and a refreshing salinity that carries through to a long, palate-coating finish. It has the structure typical of Morey Saint-Denis, a village long recognized for producing wines with more grip and firmness than its Chambolle neighbor while retaining real finesse.

This is a versatile red suited to beef, veal, poultry, and game, and one that rewards drinking over the medium term as the tannins soften and integrate.
