2024 Disznoko - Furmint Tokaji Dry (750ml)
Disznókő is a historic estate in the Tokaj-Hegyalja region, classified as a "Premier Cru" as far back as 1743, with a long tradition of coaxing pure, balanced expression from each variety it grows. The estate farms 130 hectares of steep, south-facing terraced vineyards, and while the region is world-renowned for its botrytized sweet wines, Disznókő also crafts dry bottlings from its native grapes, including this single-varietal Furmint sourced from clay-volcanic plots that lend a subtle mineral edge.
Despite the unusual conditions of 2024, marked by an early growth cycle and high temperatures, the resulting dry white wines still show real freshness and richness. The grapes were hand harvested between late August and early September, with different plots vinified separately. Full bunches were pressed directly without destemming, allowed to settle overnight, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation. The lots were blended and aged on fine lees in steel for four months before bottling in April 2025.
The finished wine shows a straw-yellow color with green reflections. On the nose, expect green apple, grapefruit, almond, stone fruit, and pear, joined by herbal, green-spice notes. The palate carries round acidity with saline character and a pleasant, mouth-filling texture, finishing with real minerality.
Best served cool and enjoyed young, this is an excellent aperitif or companion to light meals, fish, and delicate sauces.
