2024 Etienne Sauzet - Puligny Montrachet (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]

Domaine Etienne Sauzet was founded in 1903 and shaped for decades by Gérard Boudot, who married into the family and ran the estate from 1974, slowly rediscovering the individual character of its many small parcels. In recent years Benoît Riffault has steered the fifteen-hectare domaine toward even greater precision and terroir transparency, earning renewed praise from critics who consider Sauzet one of the true benchmarks of white Burgundy. The estate's holdings include some of Puligny's finest Premier Cru sites, among them Combettes, Champ Canet, and Les Folatières, alongside Grand Cru parcels in Corton-Charlemagne and Montrachet itself.

This village-level bottling is assembled from roughly a dozen scattered parcels running north to south through Puligny. Grapes are picked as late as possible while still in good health, favoring concentration, and the wine undergoes a slow, classic vinification with careful débourbage that allows for fine aging on the lees. That patient approach is a hallmark across the entire range, from village wine up through the Grand Crus.

The 2024 shows a pale lemon color with fruit that stays somewhat reserved on the nose, needing time to open. Intensity builds toward the back of the palate, refined and long with a touch of muscle. Pair it with steamed clams, lemon-roasted chicken, or fresh burrata.
