2024 Evesham Wood - Pinot Noir Willamette Valley (750ml)

Evesham Wood Winery was founded in 1986 by Russ Raney in Oregon's Eola-Amity Hills, and since 2011 it has been owned and run by Tom and Erin Hewitt, who have preserved the estate's founding approach to Pinot Noir. Even though the Willamette Valley bottling is the winery's most affordable and highest-volume wine, the team treats it with the same care given to their single-vineyard cuvées, drawing on long-standing relationships with growers the winery has worked alongside for decades.

The blend leans on fruit from Illahe Vineyard in Polk County and Mahonia Vineyard in the Jory hills south of Salem, rounded out with grapes from several respected Eola-Amity Hills sites including Prophet, Koosah, Jubilee, Cortell Rose, and Sojeau. Each vineyard lot is fermented separately in small, open-topped one-and-a-quarter-ton fermenters and punched down twice daily to gently coax out color and structure without over-extraction. The 2024 vintage spent a full year aging in French oak before bottling, giving the finished blend added cohesion and polish.

The wine offers a bright nose of cherry, red apple, and fresh flowers, with a touch of loam adding earthy depth underneath. On the palate it is medium-bodied and silky, layered with raspberry, cranberry, and orange peel, framed by juicy acidity and gently structured tannins. Its lively, food-friendly profile makes it a fine match for herb-roasted chicken, grilled salmon, or a charcuterie board built around cured meats and soft cheeses.
