Failla was founded in 1998 by winemaker Ehren Jordan and Anne-Marie Failla, originally as Failla Jordan before a trademark dispute shortened the name. Jordan took an unconventional route into wine, studying art history at George Washington University instead of enology, then working two years in the Northern Rhône village of Cornas before a long tenure as winemaker at Turley Wine Cellars. Today Failla is a respected source of cool-climate California Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah, built on organic farming, native fermentation, and gentle handling.

The 2024 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir blends estate-grown fruit from Olivet Ranch in the Russian River Valley with grapes from Failla’s single-vineyard sources, all practicing organic sites shaped by coastal fog and ocean breezes. The wine ferments with native yeasts and 30 percent whole clusters, then ages for eight months in French oak, only 15 percent of it new, before bottling unfined and unfiltered.

This Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir opens with a floral perfume, bright red fruit, and hints of wild herbs. Juicy pomegranate flavors carry across a palate defined by finesse and elegance, making it a vibrant introduction to Failla’s coastal style.
