2024 Foradori - Fontanasanta Nosiola (750ml)
Foradori is a family estate in Mezzolombardo, Trentino, founded in 1901 and taken over by Elisabetta Foradori in 1984. Since converting the vineyards to biodynamic farming in the early 2000s and earning Demeter certification in 2009, the estate has become one of Italy's most influential voices for minimal-intervention winemaking. While best known for reviving the native Teroldego grape, Foradori also champions Trentino's old white varieties, including Nosiola, through its Fontanasanta bottling.
Nosiola is an ancient grape once widespread across Trentino, now confined to a handful of hillside sites, including the Fontanasanta vineyard, where clay and limestone soils give the wine its distinct mineral backbone. Following gentle destemming, the grapes ferment and macerate on their skins in terracotta amphorae for an extended period, an ancestral technique that builds texture and depth, before the wine is racked and rested further ahead of bottling.
The result pours a rich golden hue and offers aromas of apricot, honey, baked apple, and citrus zest layered with warm spice and a flinty, nutty minerality. The palate carries bright acidity against an oily, textured mouthfeel, finishing long and savory. Pour it with grilled octopus, roasted root vegetables, or aged alpine-style cheeses.
