2024 Francois Carillon - Bourgogne Blanc Cote D'Or (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
The Carillon name has been synonymous with Puligny-Montrachet since 1632, and François — the sixteenth generation — continues one of Burgundy's most storied traditions. Since its first vintage in 2010, Domaine François Carillon has proven not only a worthy successor to the much-loved wines of his father Louis, but one of the most exciting producers in Puligny-Montrachet today.
This Bourgogne Blanc is the domaine's entry point, and it delivers well above its station. The fruit comes from three plots in Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, on clay-limestone soils, with vines ranging from 33 to 59 years old, farmed biodynamically without chemicals. Aged in French oak barrels with just 10% new wood, it displays classic aromas of white flowers and flinty minerality, opening on the palate with apple and pear that give way to fleshier stone fruit, with lovely minerality running throughout.
This tastes like fine white Burgundy — juicy, aromatic, and impressively concentrated — at a price most would expect to pay for something far less complex. Drink now through 2028.
