2024 Henri Boillot - Meursault Clos Richemont (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
Domaine Henri Boillot has continued to expand in recent vintages even as Henri approaches the later stages of his career, adding new parcels to a portfolio built over four generations of family winemaking in the Côte de Beaune. Clos Richemont, a walled monopole of about 0.62 hectares tucked inside the premier cru Les Cras, is one of the more recent additions to the domaine's Meursault holdings, joining long-standing sites like Genevrières, Gouttes d'Or, and Poruzots. Henri continues to oversee the whites personally, working toward wines he describes as pure and precise, while his son, Guillaume, has led the reds since 2012, the two collaborating closely to guide the estate through its next chapter.
Clos Richemont is planted with Chardonnay vines around sixty years old, enclosed within its own low stone walls on a site that some growers nearby have chosen to plant with Pinot Noir instead, a testament to the vineyard's flexibility. The wine is fermented and aged in barrel with a light touch of new oak, undergoes full malolactic fermentation, and rests on its lees before bottling, built to showcase texture as much as pure fruit.
The wine shows aromas of orange jam, spice, vanillin, lemon confit, and baked apple tart. The palate is dense and opulent, buttery yet balanced by good acidity, finishing on a stony, saline note. It pairs beautifully with lobster in cream sauce, roast chicken, or other rich fish dishes.
