2024 Henri Boillot - Meursault Gouttes D'Or (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
In 2000, Henri Boillot built new cellars in Meursault and relocated the family domaine there, a site that sits strategically between Puligny-Montrachet and Volnay, the two appellations he has since made his particular specialty. Alongside his estate, Henri also runs Maison Henri Boillot, a négociant business launched in 1996 focused entirely on whites, where each cru or grand cru is sourced from a single trusted grower. His son, Guillaume, joined the domaine in 2008 and became chef de culture in 2012, taking charge of red winemaking, and father and son now work as a balanced team, passing knowledge back and forth to safeguard the estate for future generations.
Les Gouttes d'Or sits on stony, chalky soil over fragmented limestone well suited to Chardonnay, and Henri Boillot's own holding here is a tiny parcel of just about 0.12 hectares. The grapes are hand harvested and sorted, following organic practices in the vineyard aimed at very low yields, then vinified with minimal intervention. The wine ferments and ages in barrel with a moderate portion of new oak, undergoes full malolactic conversion, and rests around twelve months on the lees before bottling.
The wine shows a golden yellow color with hints of green, offering citrus, mandarin, and pink grapefruit with a touch of pepper. The palate is dense and energetic, with excellent minerality, a saline edge, and hazelnut and butter notes on the finish. It pairs beautifully with roasted fish, dishes in cream sauce, or aged cheeses.
