Domaine Jean-Charles Fagot is a small family estate in Corpeau, a village just outside Chassagne-Montrachet in the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune. The Fagot family has lived in the area since 1860, and Jean-Charles represents the fifth generation to carry on the tradition, following an unconventional detour through music in Paris and Los Angeles before returning home in the mid-1990s to take over the domaine. He now divides his time between winemaking and running a well-known local restaurant, farming his vines using lutte raisonnée, a method that limits chemical intervention to only when truly necessary.

This Puligny-Montrachet is made entirely from Chardonnay grown within the village appellation, one of the most celebrated white wine communes in all of Burgundy. Following traditional practice, the wine ages in oak barrels for twelve to fourteen months, a process that builds subtle texture and toasted nuances while still allowing the vineyard's character to come through. Fagot's approach favors judiciously used oak rather than heavy-handed wood influence, aiming for wines that stay true to their appellation.

The 2024 opens with white flowers and citrus, joined by pear and white peach, with a mineral edge reminiscent of gunflint. The oak aging lends a subtle texture and hazelnut nuance without masking the wine's freshness, and the palate carries real concentration alongside a bright line of acidity. It pairs beautifully with veal terrine, roast chicken, or delicate freshwater fish.
