2024 Maison Meo-Camuzet - Pommard (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
Domaine Méo-Camuzet is one of Burgundy's most celebrated estates, its fourteen hectares centered in Vosne-Romanée, where the family has bottled under its own name since 1983. Alongside the domaine, Jean-Nicolas Méo established the négociant house Méo-Camuzet Frère et Soeurs, often marketed as Maison Méo-Camuzet, which sources fruit from respected growers in villages across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune while applying the same farming and cellar practices used on the family's own vineyards.
Pommard, alongside neighboring Volnay, is known for producing some of the darkest and sturdiest Pinot Noir in the Côte de Beaune. The négociant house's Pommard fruit comes from vines several decades old, and grapes are harvested and vinified with the estate's characteristic gentle touch, avoiding excessive extraction so the terroir's natural structure can come through, before aging in oak.
The wine typically shows dark, concentrated fruit, with black cherry and blackberry at the core alongside notes of violet, wild herb, and a touch of dark chocolate. Firm tannins and real power give it a serious backbone, and it generally rewards a few years in the cellar to soften. It pairs well with braised short ribs, duck, or other richly sauced meat dishes.
