Domaine Marc Morey has been rooted in Chassagne-Montrachet since Fernand Morey founded the estate in 1919, one of the village's early pioneers in estate bottling. Today his granddaughter Sabine Mollard runs the domaine, farming just under ten hectares across thirteen appellations from Saint-Aubin to Bâtard-Montrachet. En Virondot stands as the estate's flagship site, a near monopole of just over two hectares that Marc Morey is the only producer to farm and bottle. Sitting at one of the highest elevations in Chassagne-Montrachet, around 350 meters, the vineyard rests on shallow topsoil over calcareous bedrock, a combination that Sabine considers her greatest aging potential among all her Premier Cru holdings.

The 2024 vintage shows splendid minerality and pronounced terroir expression on the nose, echoing the precision found in the best Chassagne whites. On the palate, the wine is fresh and crisp, tightly focused, with a distinctive prickle of ginger spice carrying through the finish. This is a wine that consistently punches above its stature, even in a more demanding growing season, delivering real tension and character.

Serve chilled in a proper white Burgundy glass, and this wine pairs beautifully with shellfish, roast poultry, or rich fish in a buttery sauce. Given its structure, it also rewards several years of cellaring.
