Domaine Michel Niellon is one of Chassagne-Montrachet's historic estates, ranked alongside names like Ramonet in the village's white wine hierarchy. Michel Niellon began working alongside his father Marcel in the 1950s, and the pair started domaine-bottling in the following decade, quickly building a seven-and-a-half-hectare property regarded as among the finest in Chassagne. Since 1991, Michel has shared vineyard and cellar duties with his son-in-law Michel Coutoux, and more recently grandson Mathieu Bresson has joined as well, keeping the estate firmly in family hands.

This village Chassagne-Montrachet is a blend of Chardonnay drawn from several parcels around the commune, including the lieux-dits Blanchots-Dessous and Les Masures. The vineyards are plowed rather than treated with herbicides, and the domaine practices lutte raisonnée for pest and disease control. True to house style, the team prioritizes acidity over sugar ripeness, harvesting on the earlier side to preserve tension in the fruit.

The 2024 shows real precision and lift, with white orchard fruit, citrus, and a chiseled minerality carried by bright acidity and subtle barrel toast on the finish. It's a natural match for roast chicken, shellfish, or a simple goat cheese salad.
