2024 Pierre Girardin - St. Aubin Les Murgers des Dents de Chien (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
Pierre-Vincent Girardin represents the thirteenth generation of a Burgundian winemaking family, and he founded this domaine in 2017 at just eighteen years old. His father, Vincent Girardin, sold his own well-known estate in 2011 but held back roughly 4.5 hectares of prime parcels in Meursault, Pommard, and Volnay for his son to build on. Working from a newly built winery near the Château de Meursault, Pierre farms organically and shapes his whites in oversized 456-liter oak barrels, a choice that limits wood influence and helps preserve freshness and purity of fruit.
Les Murgers des Dents de Chien sits high on the slope above Saint-Aubin, between 320 and 370 meters, directly overlooking the grand crus of Chevalier-Montrachet and Le Montrachet and bordering En Remilly. Its name comes from the stone walls, or murgers, built from the small, white, tooth-shaped rocks scattered through the vineyard. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented in barrel, then aged roughly a year before blending and bottling with minimal sulfur.
This Chardonnay leans mineral and precise, with citrus and white orchard fruit framed by a chalky, saline finish. It's a natural companion to oysters, other raw shellfish, or a simple goat cheese.
