2024 Roses de Jeanne - Blanc de Noirs Cote de Val Vilaine (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
Cédric Bouchard discovered his passion for wine working at a Paris merchant before returning to his family's home village of Celles-sur-Ource in 2000, where he founded Roses de Jeanne with a single north-facing hectare of vines. Rather than blending across sites in the traditional Champagne manner, Bouchard treats each of his parcels as its own distinct wine, bottling single-vineyard, single-variety, single-vintage cuvées with no added sugar. Today the domaine covers around three and a half hectares in Polisy, farmed organically without chemical treatments for well over a decade.
Côte de Val Vilaine comes from a parcel of just under a hectare and a half, planted entirely to Pinot Noir. The grapes are picked by hand at full ripeness, foot-trodden in the traditional Aube style, and fermented using only free-run juice from the first pressing. The wine ages sur lattes for well over a year before disgorgement with no dosage added, letting the vintage speak on its own terms.
Expect a full-bodied, vinous Champagne with notes of brioche, toasted nuts, and ripe orchard fruit, backed by a savory, chalky structure. Serve it with roast pheasant or a plate of aged cheese.
