Simon Colin moved into his father's modern winery in Chassagne-Montrachet, just down the road from acclaimed neighbors like Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey, Niellon, and the Pillot family, a fitting address for someone carrying one of the village's most storied surnames. The son of Philippe Colin and grandson of Michel Colin-Déléger, whose once-unified estate split into several respected branches of today's Colin family, Simon released his first wines under his own label in 2017 and began formally receiving vineyards from his father in 2021. Today the domaine farms 9.3 hectares across Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay, and Maranges, with additional fruit sourced from Rully, working toward full organic certification while incorporating biodynamic practices wherever possible.

This Bourgogne Chardonnay comes from a 1.19-hectare plot in the lower part of the village of Chassagne-Montrachet, first planted in 1996. Being a comparatively young vineyard, yields run higher than the domaine's older parcels, and the fruit is typically the first picked each harvest. The wine sees a touch of new oak in small 228- and 350-liter barrels, an approach meant to add subtle texture without masking the wine's core of orchard fruit.

The wine offers a refined bouquet of orchard fruit and light creamy notes. The palate is fresh and crisp, with good tension for a regional-level white, finishing brisk, steely, and sapid. It pairs well with shellfish, roast chicken, or simple grilled fish.
