2024 Simon Colin - Chassagne Montrachet (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]

Simon Colin belongs to one of Chassagne-Montrachet's most storied winemaking families, the son of Philippe Colin and grandson of Michel Colin-Déléger, whose once-unified estate has since splintered into several respected branches, including those of Marc Colin and Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey. After training under his uncle, Bruno Colin, and serving as assistant winemaker at Domaine Etienne Sauzet through the 2020 harvest, along with stints abroad in South Africa and Oregon, Simon released his first wines under his own label in 2017, initially as a small négociant operation before beginning to receive his share of the family's vineyards in 2021. The domaine has since become organically certified, with biodynamic practices applied wherever possible, and Simon continues to build a reputation as one of the appellation's most promising young producers.

This village-level Chassagne-Montrachet blends fruit from nine parcels totaling around 1.57 hectares, situated between Puligny-Montrachet and the Morgeot climat, and includes a mix of vines planted in the 1950s alongside younger plantings. The wine is vinified with minimal oak influence in keeping with Simon's broader style, aiming for bright minerality and a fresh core of stone fruit rather than overt richness.

The wine shows a pale lemon color, with citrus, orchard fruit, and light mineral notes touched by a hint of gunflint. The palate is fresh and crisp, with good tension and a brisk, sapid finish. It pairs well with shellfish, roast chicken, or creamy cheeses.
