Born from the legendary Venica & Venica estate, the 2024 Via Alpina Ribolla Gialla delivers the signature flinty minerality of Collio DOC without the premium price tag usually attached to benchmark Friulian whites. Sourced entirely from terraced vineyards built atop ponca soil—ancient alternating layers of marl and sandstone—this unoaked vintage captures the precise balance of ripeness and alpine structure that defines northeastern Italy’s premier appellation.

Crafted through temperature-controlled fermentation and brief maturation on fine lees in stainless steel, the wine retains pure varietal character while developing a waxy mid-palate weight. It pours a shimmering straw-yellow hue with golden highlights. The nose immediately presents yellow apple, ripe Bosc pear, white peach skin, wildflower, tangerine zest, and a distinct wet slate foundation. On the palate, concentrated orchard fruit meets lively structural acidity, tapering into a long, bone-dry finish characterized by chalky salinity and a clean mineral nerve.

Serve this 12.5% ABV white between 48–52°F in a standard tapered vessel or wide-bowled Sauvignon Blanc glass to properly release its floral and stone-fruit aromatics. The pronounced phenolic grip and crisp acidity allow it to stand up directly to rich textures and salty curing. Ideal food matches include salt-cured prosciutto di San Daniele, risotto tossed with fresh herbs and young peas, grilled sea bass dressed in olive oil and lemon, fried calamari or zucchini blossoms, freshly shucked oysters, spaghetti alle vongole, and a selection of Montasio, young Asiago, or acidic goat chèvre.
