2024 Villagrande - Etna Rosso DOC (750ml)

Barone di Villagrande makes this organic Etna Rosso from vineyards in Milo and Castiglione di Sicilia, on the volcano’s slopes. The soil is volcanic. The blend is 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio. It is macerated in steel and aged 12 months in 500-liter chestnut barrels, with 18 months from harvest to bottling. The 2024 is bright and savory, with fresh red fruit, mineral notes and firm but not aggressive tannins. Lively acidity carries a persistent, fruity finish. It’s drinking well now and should hold for 15 years. Pair it with grilled sausages, roast pork, mushroom pasta or aged cheese.
