2024 Willful Wine Company - Jezebel White Oregon (750ml)
Willful Wine Co. is the project of owner and winemaker Pam Walden, based in Portland with a tasting home at the historic Grant House in Vancouver, Washington. Her winemaking style leans on native, wild-yeast fermentation, a choice she believes draws out more complexity and a truer expression of Oregon terroir, and she favors a light hand with new oak so the fruit itself stays front and center. Jezebel is Willful's more playful, easygoing second label, created to offer approachable, fruit-forward wines for everyday drinking alongside the winery's more serious single-vineyard bottlings.
Jezebel White is a blend of Alsatian white varieties, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Pinot Blanc, all grown in Oregon and co-fermented together in stainless steel. Daily lees manipulation during fermentation helps build weight and texture in the wine's mid-palate, giving it more body than its bright, aromatic profile might suggest. The blend is designed to showcase each variety's character while creating a cohesive whole that leans toward the off-dry side of the spectrum.
The wine offers aromas of guava and fresh-cut grass with a whisper of macadamia nut underneath. On the palate it turns juicy and tropical, with flavors of passion fruit, orange, and guava balanced by a touch of natural sweetness. Its versatility makes it a natural match for roast chicken, spicy Thai curries, or grilled bratwurst.
