2024 Winiveria - Aleksandrouli-Mujuretuli (750ml)
Winiveria was founded in 2005 by marketer Gia Piradashvili and his partners, who began by building a winery in Vardisubani in the Telavi district and producing traditional qvevri-aged wines. Over the past two decades the brand has expanded well beyond its Kakheti roots to include grape varieties from Imereti, Kartli, and Racha, and its wines are now sold across Europe, North America, and Asia.
This bottling comes from the village of Bugeuli in Racha, a mountainous corner of western Georgia known for two of the country's most celebrated indigenous grapes. Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli are small-berried, late-ripening varieties suited to the region's steep, sunlit slopes and cool nights, and here they're crafted into a dry red using classic winemaking methods that let the fruit's natural character shine without excessive intervention.
The finished wine shows a striking pomegranate color and an inviting bouquet of cherry, pomegranate, and fresh raspberry. On the palate it's bright and expressive, with lively acidity that keeps the fruit-forward character in balance through a long, clean finish marked by lingering red berry and pomegranate notes. It pairs naturally with grilled or roasted meats, lamb, and traditional Georgian dishes built around walnuts or mushrooms.
