The Antinori family has been making wine in Tuscany for more than six centuries, since Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine winemakers' guild in 1385. Today the house is led by Marchese Piero Antinori, with his daughters Albiera, Allegra, and Alessia deeply involved in the business. Tenuta Guado al Tasso, one of the family's coastal estates, sits within the small but internationally renowned Bolgheri DOC on the Upper Maremma coast, about a hundred kilometers southwest of Florence, on a thousand-hectare property shaped like a natural amphitheater.

The estate's Vermentino, first produced in 1996, grows on plots within Guado al Tasso's 320 hectares of vines, benefiting from the sea's moderating breezes and steady sunlight. Grapes are hand harvested in stages to capture both freshness and ripeness, then destemmed, gently pressed, and fermented in stainless steel at a controlled 16°C. Individual lots are evaluated and blended before bottling.

The wine shows a bright straw-yellow color with greenish hues, and the nose combines white peach, citrus, white flowers, and a touch of aromatic Mediterranean herb. On the palate it's dry, fresh, and well balanced, with lively acidity and a long, saline finish that echoes the coastal terroir. It pairs beautifully with seafood risotto, grilled fish, or a simple vegetable salad.
