Brane embodies the legacy of a family’s passion for wine, handed down through five generations. In 2025, the Brane family celebrates its centenary with a commemorative label whose central motif, a radiant sun, draws inspiration from a seal found on an old estate bottle dating back to the 19th century.

Conceived as a bridge between heritage and the present day, this label adorns a 2025 vintage of remarkable intensity.

Brane Cantenac, an emblem of excellence

Established in the 18th century under the name Gorce, this estate, nestled on the finest gravelly hillside in Cantenac, was already renowned as one of the Médoc's premier Second Growth vineyards well before the 1855 classification. In 1925, it was acquired by Léonce Récapet, the owner of Château Margaux. Subsequently, Lucien Lurton, his grandson, assumed ownership in 1956, followed by Henri Lurton, the fourth generation custodian.

Spanning an expansive 75 hectares of vines, the vineyard is among the largest in Margaux. Its foundation lies in deep, mineral-rich gravel soils, which naturally facilitate impeccable drainage. The "Plateau de Brane," comprising 30 hectares, undoubtedly ranks as one of Margaux AOC's most exceptional terroirs, alongside the gravelly hillsides of Margaux and Palmer.

The 2025 vintage

Extreme weather conditions and low production volumes make 2025 a rare vintage with a distinctive identity. The wines stand out for their intensity, colour, precision and remarkable freshness. Nothing was forced, either in the vineyard or in the cellar: 2025 asserts itself as a true vintage, shaped by balance and mastery.

"Cassis, graphite, liquid violets, and tobacco all define the 2025 Château Brane-Cantenac, a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 1% each Cabernet Franc, Carménère, and Petit Verdot that's being raised in 100% new French oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a focused, elegant mouthfeel, beautiful concentration and depth, integrated acidity, and a great finish. Hitting 13.5% alcohol, it's a brilliant success in the vintage and should be snatched up by readers"

"This is luscious and full of wonderfully bright fruits, great concentration, cushion of air underneath, high Cabernet and it comes through in the floral aromatics, clearly a plentiful tannic structure but luscious and layered damson and black cherry. Yes yes yes. 12.10% press wine. 3.62 pH. Tasted twice. 100 years of the Lurtons at Brane"
