2025 Chateau Clerc Milon - Pauillac (750ml) [Bordeaux Future ETA 2028]
Clerc Milon, a legendary terroir, two prestigious neighbours and a providential encounter.
The history and success of Château Clerc Milon, a Grand Cru Classé of the 1855 classification, can be captured in these three defining elements. Its terroir is that of Pauillac, home to some of the world’s finest wines. The estate’s 41-hectare vineyard lies on the Mousset hillside, overlooking the Gironde River and benefiting from an ideal microclimate. The soils, composed of deep sandy gravel over a clay-limestone subsoil, provide the perfect foundation for wines of remarkable depth and elegance.
Its neighbours are none other than Mouton Rothschild and Lafite Rothschild—illustrious First Growths whose vines can be seen from the Château’s terrace. And the encounter was with Baron Philippe de Rothschild, who in 1970 acquired this long-neglected estate and undertook its restoration, returning it to its rightful place among the Classified Growths.
The 2025 vintage:
The five grape varieties grown at Château Clerc Milon were able to fully express themselves in this vintage. The wine benefits from this perfect union, which shapes its distinctive personality. It is highly expressive, with aromas of black fruit and blackcurrant, as well as the crisp red-fruit character more typical of Merlot, notes of cedar and pepper from the Cabernet Sauvignon, a touch of chocolate, and the floral character of the Cabernet Franc and Carmenère. The tannic structure is present, precise, and also very silky. Delicacy prevails, combining depth and breadth in a beautifully balanced whole.
