Clinet, a rising star of the appellation

Modest but sure of its presence, Clinet lies at one of the highest points upon the renowned plateau at the heart of Pomerol - instantly recognisable by its red shutters and beautiful roses. It is home to one of the oldest vineyards in the appellation, with traces of the vineyard's existence dating back to 1595. This vineyard is equally famed for offering wine with an incomparable character and quality.

In the 19th century, Clinet and Pétrus were owned by the same person. Now the estate belongs to the Laborde family and is managed by Ronan Laborde. The Clinet packaging is distinguished by the ‘Clinet red’ and a personalised bottle wrapped in tissue paper. Its 10-hectare vineyard sets apart with its atypical grape proportions for the appellation: it gives pride of place to Merlot but counts also 25% of Cabernet-Sauvignon.

The 2025 vintage :

Château Clinet 2025 reveals a deep, dense and brilliant ruby colour. Its particularly expressive and intensely fruity nose unveils notes of wild strawberry, morello cherry, plum, blackberry and blackcurrant. On the palate, the texture is velvety and generous, driven by an aromatic framework combining ripe fruit, spices and pastry-like nuances.

The 2025 vintage fully expresses its character: full-bodied, intense and profound.

96-98 Points
"Dense purple-hued, the 2025 Château Clinet is a ripe, sumptuous, and seamless beauty with so much to love. Ripe red, blue, and black fruits, violets, smoky tobacco, and chocolate all shine on the nose, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with a pure, layered, graceful mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It shows just how successful the more clay-dominant soils of Pomerol were in this vintage, and it's unquestionably up with the crème de la crème of the vintage. "

96-98 Points
"The 2025 Clinet was the earliest picking ever, from September 4, and aged in 60% new oak plus 40% one-year-old barrels. Vintages now have a little more Cabernet Sauvignon, as a hectare of Merlot was uprooted. Now this has a delightful nose, perhaps the most elegant and refined that I have encountered at this stage: vivid red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry scents, neatly embroidered oak, more floral in style. The palate is medium-bodied with chiselled, fine tannins, bright and tensile, exquisite focus, with a peacock's tail on the finish. Quite crystalline on the finish, this is a Clinet that I would like in my cellar. Or at the dinner table. Or in my glass."
