Clos Fourtet, one of Saint-Emilion's jewels

Clos Fourtet is the heir to the 'Camp Fortet,' a military camp that protected the main entrance of Saint-Émilion during the Hundred Years' War. The 20-hectare vineyard forms a single plot, planted upon the highest slopes of Western Saint-Émilion. Ever since the beginning of the classification in 1956, Clos Fourtet has been a member of the elite ‘Premiers Grands Crus Classés’ of Saint-Émilion. In 2001, Philippe Cuvelier bought the estate and entrusted its management to his son, Matthieu.

The wines’ aromatic purity and precision on the palate reflect the outstanding terroir of Clos Fourtet, the expression of which the Cuvelier family has been careful to bring out over the last 20 years.

The 2025 vintage :

Le Lumineux embodies the brilliance of an exceptional vintage, a true hallmark of a great solar year. Both radiant and precise, it reveals the full nobility of a rare balance between power, freshness, and purity, heralding a wine of character with strong ageing potential.

This vintage benefited from ideal climatic conditions, with temperatures slightly above average (+4°C) and wide day/night temperature variations, promoting optimal ripening while preserving excellent acidity.

The small berries resulted in low yields — below 30 hl/ha — and give this rare vintage beautiful concentration. Its precise, lingering freshness structures the whole and contributes to a particularly remarkable level of quality

96-98 Points
"The 2025 Clos Fourtet is elegant, polished and super refined. Bracing mineral notes cut through a core of dark red and blue-toned fruit. Spice, mocha, new leather and licorice all meld together. Seamless and profoundly elegant, the 2025 impresses with its sensual personality, soft contours and magnificent balance. Time in the glass brings out touches of blood orange and white pepper that lend explosive brilliance through to the gorgeous, sustained finish. The team opted for cool fermentations in the cellar. Most lots saw 21-26 days on skins, which is on the shorter side. Clos Fourtet has recently shifted to doing malolactic fermentation in tank instead of in barrel, which has naturally lowered the wines' oak imprint, highlighted fruit purity and softened their contours. The 2025 is positively stellar. Tasted two times. Grand Vin"
