One of my best buys of the vintage. Matthieu and his team nailed it in 2025!

Château Lagrange, the pursuit of excellence

Four centuries of Medoc history along with the uncompromising quality goals shared with the Japanese owners - Suntury Group - since 1983 have inspired Château Lagrange, 3rd Grand Cru Classé in 1855.

Located on two Günzian gravel mounds, the Lagrange vineyard stretches across 118 hectares in a single plot within the Saint-Julien appellation. Château Lagrange has managed to combine tradition and embrace innovation to express, with the utmost precision, its unchanged terroir since 1855 and produce a powerful, elegant, and harmonious wine each year.

The 2025 vintage :

2025 was a highly anticipated vintage, as years ending in the number 5 have a reputation for heralding great wines. A sunny year with favourable weather, marked by a mild winter followed by a hot, dry summer, it offered the vines ideal conditions.

The berries, exceptionally small in size, concentrated colour, tannins and intensity, while preserving essential freshness thanks to the more moderate temperatures in September. The challenge was not to reveal the vintage’s potential, but to master its power, seeking balance rather than exuberance.

With nature giving less, it gave better, and Château Lagrange 2025 thus stands out as the expression of a clear harmony, already perceptible today and full of promise for the years to come

95-97 Points
"Deep purple-hued, the 2025 Château Lagrange offers up ripe blue and black fruits, spicy wood, smoky tobacco, violets, and graphite on the nose. Based on 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot that will spend 21 months in 50% new French oak, it checks in at 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.5. On the palate, it's rich and medium to full-bodied, with a pure, layered, graceful mouthfeel, velvety and integrated tannins, ample mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's another brilliant wine from this château, which has been making absolutely world-class wines for some time now without the recognition they deserve. "
