Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a cru that lives in symbiosis with Nature

In 1990, Florence and Daniel Cathiard fell in love with Château Smith Haut Lafitte. They purchased it with the firm intention of perpetuating the tradition of excellence of this noble wine. "Our philosophy can be summed up in one sentence: to do everything to ensure that each vintage, whether red or white, reflects our magnificent terroir."
Here, everything is done to preserve a living and harmonious ecosystem. The 80-hectare vineyard obtained the 'Organic Farming' label in 2019. The teams have implemented biodynamic practices, using their own medicinal plant garden to prevent diseases. They also have a preserved and natural nursery on the Isle of Lalande to cultivate their own rootstocks and thus maintain a unique identity for each grape variety, both white and red.

The 2025 vintage

The 2025 vintage is a magnificent vintage for Château Smith Haut Lafitte, destined to stand among the estate’s benchmark wines.

To pay tribute to Daniel Cathiard, who passed away in 2025, Smith Haut Lafitte 2025 features a special label honouring the man who, alongside Florence, shaped the destiny of the estate and helped establish it as one of Bordeaux’s great names.

97-99 Points
"One of my favorite wines in the vintage, the 2025 Château Smith Haut Lafitte is based on 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, raised in 50% new oak, 45% old barrel, and 5% foudre. Beautiful darker fruits, scorched earth, smoky tobacco, chocolate, and graphite all define the aromatics, and on the palate, it's full-bodied, with a deep, concentrated mid-palate, beautiful tannins, and nicely integrated acidity. It brings beautiful ripeness as well as a balanced, textured, seamless style."
