2025 Colli di Lapio - Fiano di Avellino DOCG Romano Clelia (750ml)
Colli di Lapio is a family estate founded in 1994 by Clelia Romano, who continues to run the winery today alongside her husband Angelo and their children Federico and Carmela. The property sits in Lapio, a small commune in the hills of Irpinia northeast of Avellino, widely regarded by growers and critics as the finest terroir in Campania for the Fiano grape. Under Clelia's guidance the estate has become one of the benchmark producers of the appellation, prized for wines of precision and longevity.
The vineyards rise to roughly five hundred meters above sea level on calcareous clay soils layered over volcanic subsoil, with southern exposure and wide swings between day and night temperatures that help the Fiano grape retain its natural acidity. Grapes are hand harvested, then fermented in stainless steel under controlled temperature, with the wine resting several months in tank, partly on its lees, before bottling.
The wine pours a pale straw gold and opens with aromas of white peach, chamomile, and lemon oil layered over a core of crushed stone. On the palate it is bright and structured, with ripe orchard fruit balanced by a saline, mineral edge and firm acidity that carries through a long finish. Pair it with fresh shellfish, buffalo mozzarella, or roasted chicken with herbs.
