2025 Crochet, Lucien - Sancerre Rose (750ml)

The Crochet family has farmed in Sancerre for generations, building their reputation in the village of Bué at the heart of the appellation. Today Gilles Crochet, son of Lucien, continues that legacy, holding to a careful, restrained style in the cellar that lets the estate's limestone and flint terroir speak clearly rather than layering on excess weight or manipulation. Domaine Lucien Crochet remains best known for its Sauvignon Blanc, but its rosé has earned its own loyal following among those seeking something fresher and more mineral.

This rosé is made entirely from Pinot Noir grown on Oxfordian and Kimmeridgian limestone slopes around Bué, one of the few domaines in Sancerre to still harvest by hand. After a brief period of skin contact, the grapes are pressed directly and fermented in stainless steel, then rested on fine lees for around six months, a process built to preserve purity and freshness rather than add weight or oak character.

The result is pale pink in the glass, with lifted aromas of wild strawberry, citrus, and orange zest, joined by a whisper of white pepper. On the palate it is crisp and precise, balancing ripe red fruit against bright acidity and the chalky, saline minerality typical of the region's soils. It pairs naturally with oysters, grilled salmon, goat cheese, or a simple summer salad.
