Hofgut Falkenstein is a cult favorite among Saar Riesling producers, farming steep slate slopes with a light touch and minimal intervention. This Spätlese Feinherb from the Niedermenniger Herrenberg vineyard shows the site's signature tension — vibrant citrus and orchard fruit, crushed slate minerality, and a touch of residual sweetness balanced by racy, high-toned acidity. "Feinherb" (off-dry) style makes this wine versatile at the table, while the cask number (#11) reflects Falkenstein's practice of bottling individual casks separately to preserve each parcel's character.
"The 2025er Niedermenniger Herrenberg Riesling Spätlese Feinherb Meyer Nepal (the reference to this internal cask name is provided in small print on the label after the AP number) is an off-dry wine made from fruit picked on vines planted in the 1950s in the upper part of the vineyard. This offers a superb nose of fresh peach, herbs, and smoke. The wine is fresh, subtly creamy but animating, and incredibly finely chiseled. The wine is long and multi-layered in the finish. What a success! 2030-2045"
