Founded in 1812, Remhoogte sits on the steep southwestern slopes of the Simonsberg mountain in Stellenbosch, where ancient soils and cool Atlantic winds shape a family estate focused on minimal intervention and a strong sense of place. The winery farms some of the oldest registered Chenin Blanc vineyards in the area, treating each parcel as a distinct expression of its terroir rather than folding everything into a single house style.

Honeybunch comes from a single vineyard planted more than three decades ago, with rows oriented northeast to southwest so that one side catches the gentle morning sun while the other stays sheltered from the harsher afternoon heat. Only the sun-exposed bunches are harvested for this wine, turning gold and developing a natural honeyed character as botrytis sets in. After a period of skin contact, the grapes are pressed and fermented with wild yeast in older French oak barrels and cement eggs, with about half the wine completing malolactic fermentation.

The 2025 offers honeysuckle, jasmine, and ripe mandarin on the nose, with caramel and ginger adding warmth, while the palate carries bright acidity beneath a signature waxy, honeyed texture and a long, savory finish. It pairs beautifully with roasted chicken, creamy risotto, or a butternut squash dish.
