Rossa Amara d'Arancia Amaro 750ml
Amara comes from a family of Sicilian growers working on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna, in Contrada San Martino, where they have cultivated Arancia Rossa di Sicilia IGP, the region's protected blood orange, for generations. The oranges are grown without chemical treatment and hand-picked from the family's own groves, with production kept deliberately small at around twenty thousand bottles a year, reflecting a genuinely farm to bottle approach rooted in the volcanic terrain and Mediterranean climate of eastern Sicily.
The liqueur is built from the peel of hand-picked Tarocco blood oranges, which is vatted and infused alongside wild-gathered mountain herbs and botanicals foraged from Etna's slopes. The infusion is then proofed using natural spring water drawn from the volcano itself, and no artificial additives are used at any stage of production, leaving Amara with a bright, golden, crystal-clear appearance that reflects its pure citrus base.
The bouquet is deeply aromatic, evoking the Mediterranean flora of its origin with layers of candied orange, licorice, and clove. On the palate the citrus character stays front and center, joined by subtler notes of elderflower and rhubarb, with the underlying herbal bitterness kept in careful balance throughout a long, persistent finish.
