Ararat V.S.O.P. Akhtamar Brandy 700ml
Ararat Akhtamar VSOP comes from the Yerevan Brandy Company, based at the historic Ararat Distillery in the shadow of Mount Ararat, a region credited with one of the oldest brandy-making traditions in the world. The name honors Akhtamar, an island on Lake Van tied to a well-known Armenian legend of doomed love, and the brand has grown into one of the country's most recognized exports, sold in more than fifty countries while remaining a household staple at home.
This ten-year-old brandy is built from a blend of more than fifteen individual grape distillates, sourced from vineyards across the sun-warmed Ararat Valley. Each distillate is aged separately in Caucasian oak barrels before master blenders combine them, a layered approach meant to bring depth and consistency to the final assembly. The finished spirit is bottled at 40 percent alcohol by volume, following methods passed down through generations of Armenian distillers.
In the glass, Akhtamar shows a deep amber color and an inviting nose of dried apricot, honey, and vanilla. The palate brings plums, toasted walnuts, beeswax, and pressed flowers, with a gentle layer of mixed spice running underneath. The finish is long and warming, closing on a peppery note. It suits dark chocolate, roasted lamb, or a plate of dried figs and walnuts.
