Auchentoshan 12 yr Whiskey 750ml
Auchentoshan Distillery was founded in 1823 by Irish refugees in Dunbartonshire, near the River Clyde and just outside Glasgow, earning it the nickname "Glasgow's Malt Whisky." Set in Scotland's Lowland region, the distillery is known for a lighter, sweeter house style, a reputation solidified by its use of triple distillation, a method common in Ireland but now practiced by virtually no other Scottish producer for its full single malt output.
Auchentoshan runs its spirit through three copper stills rather than the usual two, with an intermediate still lifting the new-make spirit to roughly 81% ABV before it goes into wood. This extra pass through copper produces a notably lighter, cleaner spirit than most Scotch whiskies. The 12 Year Old is matured across a combination of ex-bourbon American oak and Spanish oloroso sherry casks, then bottled at 40% ABV.
The nose offers sweet pastry, toasted almond, and a burst of citrus zest layered with green, leafy freshness. On the palate, vanilla and honeyed sweetness meet hazelnut, tangerine, and lime over a base of gentle oak. The finish is warm and lightly spiced, closing with a touch of ginger.
