Belle de Brillet (pear & cognac) Liqueur 700ml
Maison Brillet traces its history in the Charente region back to 1656, when Guy Brillet installed his first still at the family property in Grande Champagne, making it one of the oldest continuously operating houses in Cognac. In 1985, tenth-generation owner Jean-Louis Brillet created Belle de Brillet, naming it for his wife Isabelle, and the pear-shaped bottle has since become the house's signature. The estate joined the Rémy Cointreau family of brands in 2020.
The liqueur begins each September with Williams pears harvested in Anjou, left to ripen a few extra days before being crushed and fermented, then distilled into a pear eau-de-vie. This is blended with cognac from a single vineyard in Fins Bois, along with vanilla sugar made from fresh Madagascar vanilla. Roughly eighteen to twenty pears go into every bottle, and no added flavoring, caramel coloring, or neutral alcohol is used.
Belle de Brillet pours a golden amber and opens with intensely fresh, ripe pear alongside floral and honeyed notes. The palate is rich and smooth, carrying pear nectar sweetness with caramel, spice, and a light woodiness from the cognac base, finishing warm and lingering. Serve chilled or over ice as an aperitif, or pair with vanilla desserts, blue cheese, or a tarte tatin.
