Blume Marillen Apricot Eau de vie 750ml

Blume Marillen, whose name translates roughly to "blossom of the apricot," is produced by Distillerie Purkhart, a family run house that has been crafting eaux de vie, schnaps, and liqueurs in Austria since 1932. Günter Purkhart, known for his exacting standards, has trained many of today's leading distillers in the region and remains a respected authority on traditional fruit brandy production. The distillery is imported into the United States by Haus Alpenz.

Blume Marillen is made exclusively from the Klosterneuburger apricot, a variety closely tied to the Wachau region along the Danube River and named for the nearby Klosterneuburg monastery. It takes more than nine pounds of apricots to produce a single 750ml bottle, reflecting the concentrated, fruit forward character the distillery is known for. The apricots are double distilled in traditional pot stills, with the finished spirit drawn only from the heart of the second distillation, known as the mittellauf, to capture the purest aromatic core of the fruit. It is bottled at 40% ABV with no added sugar.

The nose carries an intense, ripe apricot aroma layered with marzipan and sweet hay, while the palate delivers a rich, oily texture with vivid stone fruit flavor balanced by light spice and a touch of earthiness. The finish is long and elegant. Blume Marillen is traditionally sipped on its own as an aperitif or digestif, and also lends robust aromatics to stirred and shaken cocktails.
