Bulleit Bottled in Bond marks the first whiskey distilled and aged entirely at the Bulleit Distilling Company in Shelbyville, Kentucky, the facility Diageo opened in 2017. This release was overseen by lead whiskey blender Delicia James, who trained in chemistry and rose through Bulleit's ranks over twelve years, starting as a quality control specialist before taking charge of the brand's blending program.

Distilled in the spring of 2017, the same year the distillery came online, this bourbon meets the strict requirements of the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897: it comes from a single distillery during one distilling season, rests at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and bottles at exactly 100 proof. In this case the whiskey matured a full seven years, built on Bulleit's signature high-rye mashbill of sixty-eight percent corn, twenty-eight percent rye, and four percent malted barley.

A fruity, spicy aroma opens things up, giving way to lightly toasted oak, cinnamon, and clove. The palate brings maple sweetness and warm nutmeg, while the finish closes on rich butterscotch with a touch of bright citrus.
