Campbeltown Loch Black Label Blended Malt Whiskey 700ml

Campbeltown Loch is produced and bottled by Springbank Distillers, part of the family-owned J&A Mitchell & Co, the same company behind the Springbank distillery itself. Campbeltown was once known as the whisky capital of the world, home to more than thirty working distilleries in the 19th century, though only three survive today: Springbank, Glengyle, and Glen Scotia. Campbeltown Loch was created as a tribute to that heritage, originally released as a blended Scotch combining Springbank and Longrow malt with grain whisky. It has since been reworked into a blended malt, dropping the grain component entirely in favor of showcasing the region's surviving distilleries on their own.

The current blend brings together all five Campbeltown malt whiskies made today: Springbank, Hazelburn, and Longrow, all distilled at the Springbank site, along with Kilkerran from Glengyle and the whisky from Glen Scotia. The component malts are matured separately in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks before being vatted and bottled at the Springbank distillery itself. The finished blend is bottled at 46% alcohol by volume, without chill filtration.

The nose opens with buttery malt and a distinct sea-salt brine, layered with ginger loaf, pecan pie, and a hint of honeyed sweetness. On the palate, that character carries through as creamy salted caramel, date syrup, and toffee, joined by traditional maritime notes and a gentle wisp of peat smoke. The finish builds on that smoke, developing a leathery depth as it lingers. It's well suited to slow sipping neat or with a splash of water.
