Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion Wine Dinner 06/08/2026
Les Carmes Haut-Brion Wine Dinner at BlackSalt Monday, June 8, 2026 7:00 PM | $250 Per Person — Tax & Gratuity Included
If you follow Bordeaux at all, you know that Les Carmes Haut-Brion is one of the most talked-about estates in the world right now and for very good reason.
Located in the heart of Pessac-Léognan, this historic estate traces its roots to the Carmelite friars who managed the property as far back as 1584. After its acquisition by Patrice Pichet in 2010, the estate underwent a dramatic transformation — architect Philippe Starck designed a striking new gravity-fed cellar inspired by the idea of Bordeaux wines first exported by ship, and Technical Director Guillaume Pouthier began reimagining everything about how the wine is made.
The results have been staggering. Les Carmes Haut-Brion was one of just ten châteaux to receive a perfect 100-point score from the Wine Advocate for the 2022 vintage — and in a remarkable twist, it outscored its far more famous neighbor and First Growth, Haut-Brion, by a full three points. The 2022 received perfect 100-point scores from the Wine Advocate, Vinous, and Decanter simultaneously a feat achieved by only a handful of wines in any vintage. The 2020 earned 100 points from both Decanter and Vinous. The 2018 garnered 100 points from Jeb Dunnuck. The 2016 scored 99 from Jeb Dunnuck and 98 from Vinous. Vintage after vintage, this property is delivering wines that belong in the conversation with the greatest Bordeaux ever made.
What sets Les Carmes apart is its bold, avant-garde approach — whole-bunch fermentation, gravity flow, and amphora aging used to craft wines of incredible energy, perfume, and finesse. The blend, often with an unusually high proportion of Cabernet Franc, is shaped to reflect its unique urban terroir rather than conform to Left Bank tradition.
On Monday, June 8th, MacArthur Beverages and BlackSalt are proud to host an intimate vertical wine dinner showcasing five vintages of Les Carmes Haut-Brion — led by a very special guest: Maria Gamba, representing the château directly. Maria will guide us through each wine, sharing the story behind the estate's remarkable rise and the philosophy driving some of Bordeaux's most exciting bottles. This is an extraordinary opportunity to taste this property in depth, in the company of the person who knows it best.
