Cocchi Aperitivo Americano Bianco comes from Giulio Cocchi Spumanti, a house founded in 1891 in Asti, in Italy's Piedmont region. Giulio Cocchi was originally a pastry chef from Florence before relocating to Asti and establishing himself as a producer of sparkling wine and aromatized aperitifs, quickly becoming a fixture of the town's Belle Époque social life. The company has been run by the Bava family, themselves respected Piedmontese winemakers, since 1978, and continues to follow Cocchi's original formula.

This aperitivo starts from a base of local Moscato d'Asti wine, which is fortified and then infused with a secret blend of botanicals, most notably cinchona bark for its natural quinine, along with gentian and citrus peel. The aromatized wine is left to rest and marry for roughly a year before bottling, a process that has remained unchanged since the recipe was first developed in the 1890s. Its close resemblance to the discontinued Kina Lillet has made it a favored substitute in classic cocktails that once called for that ingredient.

Cocchi Americano Bianco shows a pale golden color with a nose of honeyed Moscato, orange, and stone fruit. The palate is light and lifted, layering citrus and gentle sweetness against the clean, dry bitterness of quinine and gentian, finishing crisp and appetite whetting.
