Compass Box Nectarosity Blended Scotch Whisky 750ml
Compass Box was founded in London in 2000 by John Glaser, an American entrepreneur who previously worked as a marketing director for Johnnie Walker. Rather than distilling its own spirit, the company operates as an independent whisky blender, sourcing malt and grain whiskies from established Scottish distilleries and marrying them into distinctive, non-age-statement expressions. Under current whiskymaking director James Saxon, Compass Box has built a reputation for transparency and creativity within an industry historically reluctant to reveal its blending secrets, releasing bottlings that range from smoky, peat-driven malts to lighter, fruit-forward compositions like this one.
Nectarosity takes its inspiration from the world of patisserie, marrying malt whiskies from three distilleries with a blend of grain whiskies. Special American oak barrels are used twice in the process: first to season grain spirit with sweet spice, then to finish malt whisky, before the two components are combined to amplify fruit and toffee character. The whisky is bottled at 46% ABV with natural color and no chill filtration.
On the nose, honeyed notes mingle with poached pear, nectarine, and lychee. The palate turns toward juicy apricot and pineapple before toffee, vanilla, and butterscotch take hold, closing on a lingering note of cinnamon bun.
