DeKuyper Blackberry Flavored Brandy 750ml
Petrus De Kuyper and his wife Anna Custers began the family business in 1695 in Horst, a village in the southern Netherlands, originally producing wooden casks used to transport gin and beer. Their descendants later purchased a distillery in Schiedam, then the center of Dutch genever production, and by the early twentieth century the company had shifted into liqueurs, introducing flavored brandies among its first offerings. On the occasion of its three hundredth anniversary, Queen Beatrix granted the firm the title "Royal," and DeKuyper remains one of the oldest family-run distilleries in the world.
DeKuyper Blackberry Flavored Brandy is produced by blending a brandy base with natural blackberry flavoring, a style the company has offered since its early move into fruit-flavored liqueurs. The finest available blackberries are selected to develop the fruit character before blending, resulting in a full-bodied spirit bottled at 30 percent alcohol by volume. Its straightforward production keeps it accessible and consistent, designed as much for mixing as for sipping.
The nose bursts with fresh blackberry, backed by soft vanilla and a light brandy spice. On the palate, ripe berry sweetness balances against the natural dryness of the brandy base, giving it more complexity than a simple fruit liqueur. The color runs deep and dark, and the finish stays smooth and full-bodied, with the blackberry character carrying through to the end.
