Dewar's was founded in 1846 by John Dewar in Perth and later grew under his sons into one of Scotland's best known blending houses, winning awards and gaining favor abroad by the turn of the century. The brand pioneered a double aging process in 1881 to smooth out its blends, and current Master Blender Stephanie Macleod has built on that legacy with access to Dewar's own distilleries, including Aberfeldy, Aultmore, Craigellachie, Macduff, and Royal Brackla, for both single malt and grain components.

This expression carries the technique further through a four-stage process Dewar's calls Double Double. Parcels of single malt and single grain whisky are each aged separately for 21 years, then blended and re-ccasked to marry, blended together a second time, and finally rested in Oloroso sherry casks. The result is bottled at 46% ABV as a small batch release, non-chill filtered and with natural colour.

The nose opens with chocolate, caramel, and vanilla, joined by crystallized orange, ripe plum, and black cherry. On the palate, chocolate-dipped fruit and gingersnap spice meet bold sherry richness, with cinnamon and nutmeg carrying through to a finish touched by smoke and dark fruit. It has earned recognition including a Platinum medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
