Domaine Macle is based in the village of Château-Chalon, where its vast underground cellars are revered by Jura connoisseurs. Jean Macle, at the helm since 1995, made the estate a reference point for Jura wine, and today Laurent Macle and his sister Christelle continue their father's work. The family farms roughly a dozen hectares, now certified organic, and is known for remarkable consistency across vintages.

The Tradition is a blend of mostly Chardonnay with a smaller share of Savagnin. After hand harvesting, the wine is aged for just over three years in old oak barrels beneath a natural veil of yeast, in the classic oxidative style of the Jura. It is made with native yeasts and minimal sulfur, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The 2018 vintage was warm and generous, giving concentration and early approachability while keeping the region's hallmark acidity.

Sometimes described as a little vin jaune, it opens with green apple, juicy pear, and spring flowers, with fresh walnut adding complexity. The palate is deep and silky, blending citrus freshness with honey and toasted nut notes before a lasting finish.
